Step-by-Step Usage Guide

- Anneal & Debur: Ensure the copper pipe end is cut square and deburred completely. If using hard copper, heat the tip with a torch until dull red and let it cool (annealing) to soften the metal and prevent splitting.
- Secure the Tube: Clamp the copper tubing firmly into a flaring bar or swaging block, leaving a length equal to the tube’s diameter protruding above the clamp.
- Insert the Tool: Place the tip of the swaging punch straight into the tube, centering the step that matches your tube’s size.
- Drive with a Hammer: Strike the flat hex end of the punch squarely with a ball-peen hammer. Tap consistently, checking that the punch stays perfectly straight, until the tube expands up to the shoulder of the desired step size.
- Extract: Twist the punch slightly to remove it, leaving a clean, expanded pocket ready for brazing or soldering.
